anyway NBC was over yesterday.
and we got bronze.
so lets all go to a corner and cry our eyes out and fart continuously to contribute to global warming.

well honestly, i dont think we did our BEST BEST kinda BEST.
but still(;
i dare say we deserve the GWD.
why not?

some might say the judges were biased since we are the first band.
so we woke them up(since its pretty early) with what we played
feeling happy(?! i can find no other words to replace that so shutup.) they decided to give us the highest points.
why dont we think about it in another way.
we woke them up, they were fcking unhappy and still gave us high marks.
WHAT?

i must agree i think we were quite lucky to hit 85(the minimum score for a GWD)
but we cant possibly say that 99% of the marks we got is because of TYCO-NESS and only 1% on what we played.
right?

why werent the other bands LUCKY as well.

so why were they UNLUCKY?

COMPARING US TO OTHER BANDS?
i must say st pat is a good band(yes i know) they have tone, sound and everything.
as an individual, they are perfect.
but as a band, i dont really think so.
the soloist did not even bother to look at the conductor dammit.
they werent playing together.
so why cant we compare.

latecomers minus 5% of the score right?
5% of 100 is 5 marks.
they couldnt possibly have gotten 100.
so adding whatever marks they got, they are still lower than us.
so why cant we compare?
JUST FOR THAT MOMENT?
why not?
they might not have played their best that particular moment.
neither did we.


we are a small band.
um so?
initially i thought being a small band kind of sucked.
but look on the good side, its easier to bring the whole band together as there are lesser players.
its easier to get the band to focus.
our volume might not be comparable to other bands put it isnt really the volume that counts.
right?
is volume one of the judging criteria?
no.

on the whole, i think we won because
1) choice of songs.
march bou shu is certainly an interesting piece
warabe is soso(now.) but the first time i heard the professional recording i must say, i liked it quite alot.
while for other bands, some of their songs werent really interesting..
some were even repetitive(meaning more than one band played it)
...
many bands in the second division had brilliant tune, a good tone but lacking a little too much in the musical feel.
no offense?

2)pretty much thanks to the bou-shu piece.
we've been playing it for decades for goodness sake.

3)we bothered to look at the conductor.

on the whole,
we might not be the biggest band, the best sounding one, the one with the best instruments whatever cock shit.
but to me, we had the best conductors, the best support from friends & families, the best in musical feel, the best in choices of pieces.
and most certainly the hard work put in.
TO ME.

dont come telling me we could have done BETTER than 85 if we prac-ed harder.

i agree whole heartedly though.
but for once cant anyone be happy with what we achieved?

somtimes you dont have to dump cold water on us you know.
i dont see what is wrong with being happy with our award.
thinking we do not deserve it is self-demoralising.
then we might as well have been think
"we cannot do it la, got st pat this kind of pro school, how to win"
before the competition.
so you tell us to work hard, you told us we could do it.
AND WE DID.
and now you tell us that we were lucky, we should not compare too much.

why cant we just stay happy for awhile.
afterall, we did work hard.

you dont have to say one good thing and drown it with another.
in order not to let us feel over confident.
why dont you think in another way.
in order to keep up out standard after achieving GWD, we would continue working harder.
why must you think that after achieving GWD, we will get smug and think we are the best in the world.

however, one good point is not all the good bands took part.
we only played against 8 other bands.

and this is not the best we can get.
neither is it the best for them
..

over with all the shitty stuff.
im not talking about anyone in particular but if you think im talking about you(WHOEVER YOU MAY BE)
so be it.

we did it.
continue working hard,
im gonna promise im not gonna slack as much anymore.
sustaining out reputation and the award is much more important than showing the world that we exist.
